ORIENTATION EVENTS
No additional registration and orientation events are scheduled for 2007-2008 season.

Most training sessions are conducted at Powderhorn Ski Resort in western Colorado. Occassionally we will travel to other resorts.

A commitment to attend a minimum of eight (8) training sessions and both competitions is required to qualify for the Special Olympics Ski and Snowboard Team.

• All participants will be guaranteed a bib (slot in competitions) in the Western Area Winter Games at Ski Cooper in Leadville.
• Not all athletes will be assigned a bib for competitions in the Winter Games at Copper Mountain Resort. Those who will not qualify or won't be selected by the Special Olympics for the Winter Games at Copper will be offered a free trip and stay at Copper with the team and will remain as part of the team in support role.

CDA provides transportation to athletes who need assistance in getting to training sessions at Powderhorn Resort. Colorado Discover Ability provides transportation to and from events at Ski Cooper in Leadville and at Copper Mountain Resort. To keep the team's expenses down we encourage travel with families and caretakers.

Athletes should bring an appropriate lunch for each training day or enough money to buy lunch at Powderhorn's cafeteria. All meals will be provided during Area Games and Winter Games..

Some ski and snowboarding gear is supplied to athletes by Colorado Discover Ability. Additional ski and snowboarding gear is supplied by the Gene Taylor's Sporting Goods store in Grand Junction as a season rental, free of charge. Students keep the rented gear at home for the duration of the program. Killtec and Spyder team uniforms (ski jacket and ski pants) are leased free of charge to all participants in the program. Athletes will be required to wear helmets when practicing with the team (no exceptions) and are encouraged to wear helmets when skiing or riding outside official training sessions.

9:00 a.m.	Gear up in the Ski School meeting room inside Powderhorn Resort. This room is for athletes, Training Partners and coaches only. If an athlete requires assistance, only one caretaker may come to the meeting room.
