Colorado Discover Ability (CDA) is the Adaptive Ski and Snowboard School at Powderhorn Resort in western Colorado. We have a complete inventory of adaptive equipment for instruction. All our instructors are PSIA-trained (some are PSIA certified) and will provide you with the highest quality lesson possible.
Our snowsports school is open seven days a week, from December 1 through the end of March. We provide lessons for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities.
Ski and Snowboard:
Full Day: $70.00 (from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with one-hour lunch break)
Half Day: $40.00 (from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
Group Lessons (4-10 people): 15% discount given during checkout
Group lessons for agencies:
Full Day: $40.00 (from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. with one-hour lunch break)
Group lesson policy:
- Reservations need to be made at least 3 days in advance. Reservation must include the clients’ name, disability and skiing experience. CDA needs this information in advance to be able to schedule a volunteer with the appropriate skills required by the client.
- CDA needs to be informed of a change in group size at least 3 days in advance. Failure to report increases in group size may result in lessons not taught in a one-on-one ratio (some clients may be in a group lesson).
- Cancellation of lessons on the day of lesson will NOT be charged. If you know in advance there will be a cancellation, CDA would appreciate the fore-warning.
Snowshoe:
Full Day: $25.00 (from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with one-hour lunch break)
Half Day: $15 (from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
A sighted ski guide for the blind or visually impaired:
Full Day: $40.00 (from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with one-hour lunch break)
Prices include lift ticket, instructor and equipment rental.
Personal attendant care is NOT provided by CDA. If possible, please schedule your lesson a few days in advance.
We require that all our customers wear helmets while skiing or snowboarding. We can provide you with a helmet if you don't have one.
