Rafting Adult Day Trip
The Colorado River, between Corn Lake (Clifton) and Blue Heron (Redlands Parkway), is called the Urban Route by locals. This stretch of river is full of wildlife, yet close to town. There are eagles, Blue Heron rookeries, ducks, geese, beavers, and deer crossing the river. This is a fairly flat stretch of river, where you can kick back and relax. At the confluence of the Gunnison and Colorado, past the 5th Street Bridge, kayakers surf the wave during peak water flow. This day trip takes about 4-6 hours without much paddling, and can be shortened to about 4 hours if paddled all the way. The trip time varies depending on stream flow and winds. This program is for any participant 26 years of age and older. If you are interested please contact CDA Program Director. CDA river crew, contact Jeremy to volunteer. Cost $40.00

Youth Day Camp
The purpose of this activity is to encourage youth to use, enjoy, and steward public lands. Digital photography will be used as a tool to introduce youth to nature and allow them to express their perceptions of the environment. Workshops in photography and environmental education will be followed by hikes and field trips on BLM lands that will give provide them with opportunities to expand their ecological knowledge, practice creativity and build self confidence in the outdoor environment. We will be outdoors working with horses, actively participating with your Gateway Stables team to discover new ways of perceiving and being in the world. Activities are performed on the ground; there is no riding involved and no requirement for participants to have horsemanship skills or any experience with horses. Camp Freedom information and dates: RUSTLERS Will provide children with developmental delay, physical, and cognitive disabilities, an opportunity to explore the outdoors with activities designed to facilitate success and wilderness enjoyment. The focus for these campers is teamwork and adventure through exposure to new experiences and peer interaction. When: July 11-12 Cost: $170 OUTLAWS Will provide children with primarily physical disabilities an outdoor camp experience. Activities are designed to build self-esteem and friendships. The goal is to find commonalities and support others who have physical challenges . When: July 13-15 Cost: $250

Camp Freedom
Colorado Discover Ability has partnered with local health care providers from Grand Junction to create two unique and exciting overnight camp experiences for children 6 to 13 years of age. Each camp is designed to accommodate kids with differing disabilities and medical needs.
Our dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers include physical, occupational, speech and recreation therapists as well as physicians and nurses to ensure a safe as well as an enjoyable experience.
